Develop the skillsets needed to guide the delivery of value in a Lean enterprise by becoming a Certified SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM). During this two-day course, attendees gain an in-depth understanding of how to effectively perform their role in the Agile Release Train (ART) as it delivers value through Program Increments.

Attendees explore how to apply Lean thinking to decompose epics into features and stories, refine features and stories, write capabilities statements, manage program and team backlogs, and plan and execute iterations and program increments. Attendees also discover how the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps culture contribute to the relentless improvement of the ART.

Learn how the roles of Product Owner, Product Manager, Solution Manager, and Epic Owner drive the delivery of value in the SAFe enterprise. Get an overview of the Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®), the Lean-Agile mindset, and an understanding of how the Product Owner and Product Manager roles operate in the enterprise to drive the delivery of value.

At the end of this course, candidates are given access to an exam study guide, a web-enabled flashcard style of sample exam questions to practice with, a full online practice exam that can be taken unlimited times at no extra cost, and one chance to write the Certified SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager exam within 30 days of completing the course.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the various roles on a SAFe team
  • Understand the SAFe framework
  • Write effective epics, features, and user stories
  • Understand how to manage backlogs
  • Participate in the planning of program increments
     

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is intended for CTOs, directors, product owners and product managers, delivery managers, Scrum Masters, project managers, development managers, business analysts, team leads, change agents, Release Train Engineers, agile coaches, SAFe program consultants, consultants, engineers, architects, programmers and developers.

PREREQUISITE

There is no prerequisite to attend the course, regardless of experience; however, those who intend to take the Certified SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager exam are recommended to have attended the Leading SAFe® course, have experience working in a SAFe environment, and have experience with Lean, agile, or other relevant certifications.

MATERIALS

Students will be provided with a workbook containing copies of the presentation material, all of the abovementioned study materials and practice exam, a chance to write the  SAFe® 5 Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification exam, plus one year membership to the SAFe Community Platform.
